POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
BASKETBALL COACH (TEMPORARY)

We are currently inviting applications for a Basketball Coach to work with one of our Grade 8/9 teams. This is a temporary part-time position that will run from mid-November 2024 to mid-February 2025 with a three week break over the winter holidays.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Plan and run 2-3 afterschool practices that combine technical, tactical, and physical components related to basketball

  • Determine game rosters

  • Implement appropriate offensive and defensive tactics

  • Motivate and prepare athletes/team for competitive events or games

  • Attend 1 game per week plus 2 tournaments that typically run Friday afternoons and Saturday. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants should have a minimum of three years coaching experience and/or an advanced playing background

  • Experience working with secondary school aged students 

  • Effective interpersonal skills to establish connections with students 

  • Must be highly collegial and a collaborative team partner

  • NCCP and/or Basketball Canada certification considered an asset 

 

The compensation for this position is between $1,500 to $4,000. and is based on coaching experience and qualifications.  Preferred candidates will be required to complete a satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
