Part-time Receptionist

If you appreciate being around children who strive to make a difference in the world, we are currently seeking applicants for a permanent part-time receptionist.  This position will provide relief receptionist support for both the Junior and Senior School. This is a ten-month position that follows the school calendar, working approximately 10 hours per week, 2 hours each day from 11:30 to 1:30. Additional flexibility is required during the school year to cover absences due to illness, special events and/or leaves

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure smooth and efficient operation of the Junior and Senior School reception area by maintaining the front office as a welcoming formal reception area for visitors and Southridge community members 

  • The first point of contact for prospective families visiting the school

  • Field admissions-related inquiries; answer incoming calls, greet potential constituents and distribute appropriate promotional material

  • Receive, direct and track all visitors to the Junior and Senior School ensuring that the Southridge security protocol is communicated and adhered to

  • Coordinate and manage the flow of all incoming telephone calls and direct them appropriately

  • Oversee the sign-in/out log for faculty, staff, volunteers, and students

  • Track and monitor school keys kept at reception

  • Attend to routine playground minor injuries, contacting parents when necessary; maintain the student sick-room area; dispense and log medication

  • Support evacuation procedures for fire, earthquake, and lockdown as required 


  • Completion of grade 12 coupled with three years of experience

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a warm and welcoming manner

  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email and in-person

  • Observant and aware of what is happening in and around the school

  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, and file management skills

  • Ability to deal calmly and confidently with children and understand the Southridge ethos and approach

  • Personable and professional manner when representing the School to parents, students, visitors, and external academic bodies

  • Ability to work collaboratively with minimum supervision and function well as part of an administrative support team

  • Certification in Basic First Aid is an asset
