Fireside Chats
In February, during the university reading week break, we had numerous recent graduates join our grade 12 classes in person and on zoom graduates for our annual “Fireside Chats”. Our alumni shared their insights and advice about the transition to post-secondary, life on university campus, and how to navigate first-year.
Annual Alumni Social
After having to cancel the Alumni Holiday Social in 2020 & 2021 due to the pandemic, and the 2022 event due to inclement weather, we were FINALLY able to host the Alumni Social on February 24th and it was a blast! Southridge alumni and their guests enjoyed an evening of games, drinks, hors d'oeuvres, door prizes, and reconnecting with each other.
Importance of Being Earnest Revival
"The Importance of Being Earnest” came back to Southridge 21 years after our students performed the play in 2002! In February, Laura Moore (Class of 2002) joined the current Southridge cast and crew via Zoom (all the way from Paris!) to share her memories, insights, and advice. She was the Stage Manager and Assistant Director of the performance when she was at Southridge, and went on to pursue a career in theatre!
Alumni Artist Visits Art Class
In February we had Class of ‘99 alum Kathy Ager visit the senior art classes. She shared her journey with art and graphic design with our Grade 11 and 12 students and was even helping students with their oil paintings! Kathy is an incredible freelance artist and has been commissioned by companies like Nike and Real Skateboards, and was even recently commissioned by the NBA!

The Alumni Panel Series
Career Days 2021: A Virtual Alumni Speaker Series
In a typical year, Career Day is a highly anticipated event for both alumni and students. It’s normally a fun day that allows our students to learn about post-secondary institutions and career pathways during a full day of interactive sessions with alumni professionals.
This spring, sixteen alumni participated in delivering virtual speaker presentations to give current students advice about career paths and professions, including law, medicine, aerospace engineering, computer science, environmental science, nursing and midwifery and entrepreneurship. During four of these sessions, current Grade 10, 11, and 12 students were also able to question the panelists, live on Zoom, about alternative post-secondary paths and requirements for a possible career in these categories.
Although we missed the “buzz” of the traditional Career Day experience, with the support of teachers, students and alumni, we embraced the opportunity to connect virtually and learn about the diverse pathways of our alumni!
Thank you to all the speakers who helped support this event.
In 2020 Southridge reached the milestone of being open for 25 years.
At Southridge, contribution is at the heart of what we inherit and pass on, and 25 years into our journey, we remain grateful for the visionary contributions of our parents, students, teachers, leaders, alumni, and alumni families. Reaching this important milestone as a community is a testament to the people who worked tirelessly to establish our school. The foundational principles they embedded in the Southridge culture have created a close and connected community, and they have had an enduring impact on our over 1,200 graduates.
In March of 2020, we welcomed back to campus alumni and alumni

The event was extraordinary – it brought together over 200 members of the Southridge community and had us feeling all the “feels.” The evening's program included student musical performances, student-led campus tours, and a ‘throwback’ archive display, which was appreciated by alumni and alumni parents who had not been back in many years!
Thank you to all our amazing volunteers who helped make this event possible and a special thank you to the Su Family for their generous floral donation.
Throwback Christmas Feast
On Saturday, December 21, 2019, the Southridge Alumni Association hosted a special 'Throwback' Christmas Feast event in celebration of the 25 years of Southridge. We welcomed back to campus over 160 alumni, along with over 40 guests, including faculty and volunteers!
Highlights of the evening included a very robust cocktail hour, a delicious 'throwback' turkey dinner served by 9 alumni parent volunteers, and hilarious entertainment by Wes Barker - a Canadian award-winning comedic magician. And of course, some historical skits performed by our beloved teaching staff.
