New Faculty Spotlight - Nikka Peredo
Parveen Loodu

We're excited to welcome Nikka Peredo to Southridge as our new Senior School Teacher-Librarian. With a passion for literacy, learning, and creating welcoming spaces for students, Nikka brings a diverse educational background and a genuine love of books and stories to our community.

Originally from Calgary, Ms. Peredo holds a Bachelor of Education from Mount Royal University and recently completed her Master of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alberta. Her experience includes working as an elementary teacher as well as a specialized instructor supporting learners with brain-based learning differences.

Since moving to Vancouver, Ms. Peredo has been enjoying exploring the city with her partner and friends, often in search of new cafés and restaurants. She’s also an avid reader and movie-goer, with a never-ending list of books and films to discover - and she’s always happy to share a recommendation or chat about a favourite.

An active runner, Ms. Peredo completed her third half-marathon this year and continues to enjoy running, especially along Vancouver’s seawall. When she’s not running, you’ll often find her doing yoga or Pilates, or working on her pickleball game.

Creating a community around literacy

At Southridge, Ms. Peredo is looking forward to getting to know our Senior School students, staff, and families and supporting students in all things literacy.

She’s particularly excited to cultivate a positive environment around reading and digital literacy while creating a library space where everyone feels welcome, supported, and accepted. With her enthusiasm for books, learning, and community, we’re delighted to welcome Ms. Peredo to Southridge.
