For our last Southridge Profile of this school year, we are profiling Ms. Preddy, our wonderful Finance Assistant who joined Southridge in 2006.
Tell us about yourself and your history at Southridge.
Ms. Parker (Senior School Music Teacher) with Ms. Preddy
I grew up in Burnaby and have lived my entire life in the Lower Mainland. I had originally wanted to go into the hospitality industry and completed my diploma in Hospitality Administration before realizing that was not what I wanted to do. After a few years, I went back to school to study accounting and found I really enjoyed working with numbers. I worked at a few different companies that I enjoyed, but then I received an opportunity to come work at Southridge in 2006 and I have never looked back.
What are some of the things you enjoy most about working at Southridge? What are some of the challenges?
I love working at Southridge. The community’s amazing and it is like nothing you can find in the regular accounting world. My colleagues are such interesting and kind people and I enjoy catching up with a few of them every day.
I don’t find many challenges working at Southridge School, but if I had to choose something it's seeing a family that you have know for years have their last child graduate and then not having that connection you once had.
What are some of your interests outside of school?
Anyone who knows me, knows I love to travel! I am usually always planning a trip somewhere. I love to learn about new cultures or just relax on a beach. Enjoying time with friends and family also tops the list.
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
To me a perfect day would be enjoying my family and friends either on a beach somewhere or a backyard BBQ.
