Welcome to Southridge! Part 2
Darcie Sagert

Join us in welcoming some of our new Southridge faculty and staff members. We asked them to tell us a bit about themselves, what they enjoy doing in their spare time, and what they're looking forward to about being a part of the Southridge community. Thanks to all the faculty/staff who contributed!

Sofia McGinn
Junior School Educational Assistant

I have been an Education Assistant for the last 17 years (the last four at Crofton House School). I moved to South Surrey (Summerfield) from Vancouver 4 years ago with my husband and now have a 3 year old son, Conor. We also have an 8 year old Bernese Mountain Dog named Willow.

When I’m not chasing around my toddler and dog, I love playing volleyball in my spare time and shooting hoops. I played point guard back in high school! I also love photography and capturing memories. Weekends are often spent seeing my parents and siblings along with my niece and nephews. Favourite past time- I used to work on an ocean liner called the Queen Mary 2 and got to see the most beautiful parts of the world!

I’m looking forward to meeting students, families, and colleagues and exploring the campus and being a part of the Southridge community!

Frank Trentadue
Post Secondary Counsellor and Career Education Leader

I am originally from Toronto, Ontario where I taught several different subjects but my main area of interest was senior school English. I moved into Guidance after teaching English for about 20 years. I was also the director of student affairs before moving to BC. Most recently, I held a position as the Senior School assistant principal in Vancouver.

Moving to BC has been wonderful as I have been busy exploring the natural beauty of British Columbia. Since coming to BC, I have taken up hiking and biking. On August 27th, I participated in the Tour de Cure - a 100km cycling challenge to raise funds for BC Cancer Agency. I rode with my wife and my son, and we were able to raise close to $5,000.

I am excited to be part of a team of passionate educators who are committed to educating students who will make a difference in the world.

Katherine King
Math & Science Teacher

I was born and raised in Toronto and attended Queen’s University for Concurrent Education. I worked in California for a short time and then spent time teaching in England for a few years after I graduated.

My family and I recently moved from Toronto, where I have been teaching Math & Science for the past 10 years. My husband and I decided we wanted to make a change and check out this side of Canada. I have two young boys and an Australian shepherd, Zephyr.

I love to travel and play soccer. In my spare time you can usually find me on a dog walk, hike with my family, or at a soccer field. I’m really looking forward to exploring the outdoors on the West Coast.

I am so excited to be part of the Southridge community both academically and through coaching. I can’t wait to get to know all the amazing people that are a part of Southridge!

Jen Sneller
Part-Time Drama Teacher

I am a 100% theatre nerd and love teaching, directing and creating theatre. I received a Bachelors of Education in Drama and English and have taught in Texas, Switzerland, Holland, Kuwait, Thailand, and Vancouver. I am also a certified Expressive Arts Therapist (imagineable.ca) and artistic director for Eastside Story Guild.

I love to travel with my husband and two sons, paddleboard, paint, and...you guessed it - go see theatre!

I am most excited about meeting my students!
