At-Home Learning and Return to Campus

While the world around us is changing, our commitment to learning and supporting our students remains our number one priority. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is essential. During the COVID-19 outbreak in the spring of 2020, we embraced the unprecedented challenges by efficiently moving to an online teaching and learning model. With creativity, teamwork, innovation, communication, and resilience, we embraced this unprecedented challenge. We learned a lot; we grew; we stretched our thinking and pushed our boundaries.

Our community creatively worked together to innovate, communicate, and make the best of this challenging situation. We are proud to say that on campus and online, we remained a close, connected, and engaged community. Regardless of the environmental shift, we remain – and will always remain – a school whose mission and values support our goal of developing students with strong minds and good hearts.

We will remain nimble and ready to pivot our learning plans as deemed necessary by the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Health Office, and the Fraser Health Authority ensuring a continuity of learning and support for our children.

We are currently awaiting specific information from the Ministry of Education so we can determine what our return to school in September 2020 will look like. In the meantime, we are carefully planning a variety of scenarios based on the stages of the BC Education Restart Plan that will maximize allowable opportunities for academic, co-curricular, and student support to be happening at school while adhering to the health and safety guidelines communicated by the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Health Officer.

Our mission hasn’t changed, our values are still the same, as a Southridge community, because after all, We are All One and this is a community that is filled with strong minds and good hearts.

COVID-19 changed the way we consider health and safety on campus - this is our top priority. See below some of the examples of the health and safety protocols that we have installed including new hand washing stations, hand sanitizing stations, physical distancing and directional markings, plexiglass, and thermal temperature reading procedures.

Online or at school, our students health, safety, wellness, and learning remain at the heart of everything we do.
