This service is offered as an extended day option to participants of our weekly camps. Children will have the choice of playing games in the gym, or watching a movie to relax after a busy day. Parents are required to pick up their child by 5:00 pm. This is a per week commitment. 


exploring the arts

Exploring the world of the arts can help your child develop communication, imagination, collaboration, and build self-confidence. Your child will be introduced to the art of pretending through fun theatre games and techniques that draw on improvising, mime, movement, and team work. Young campers will also discover, experiment with, and express their artistic talents in new ways through music, stories, and visual arts.  This camp is all about fun, making new friends, and developing important skills that can be applied in school and every day life.

Get ready to go into the jungle and learn all about its inhabitants in this fun, active, and education camp. We will learn about elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and more through games, stories, and fun activities. Campers will learn new facts about jungle animals and create many different safari-themed art projects like paper chain snakes, toilet paper binoculars, and paper plate Zebras. And of course, no Safari camp would be complete without getting outside and having some fun.

LITTLE SCIENTISTS

Grab hold of your natural curiosity, bring along your enthusiasm, and get set to explore your every day world! We will conduct experiments in a variety of different and exciting scientific fields, such as nature (biology), mixtures (chemistry), and movement and force (physics). Campers are invited to participate in fun and engaging hands-on activities, ask lots of questions, and share their own ideas and special perspectives about how the world works. This is a great opportunity for young campers to learn about different scientific concepts by watching what is happening, guessing what might happen next, experimenting with different ideas, and making new discoveries!

Have you ever wanted to be a superhero, or a magical princess from a fairytale? Join us for an exciting week-long adventure where we will explore characters from our favourite storybooks and movies like Cinderella, Frozen, Batman, and Spiderman. Activities will include dress up, storytelling, cooking, arts and crafts, games, and more. Your child will love exploring various characters and creating their own capes, masks, crowns, and wands to transition into their very own princess/superhero character.

dinosaur adventure

Let’s become paleontologists for a week and bring the prehistoric world to life! Learn all about the big, the small, and the ugly in the world of dinosaurs. Through language arts, science, arts and crafts, hands-on activities, and explorations, dinosaur fans will discover why they are so captivating. Campers will learn how fossils are formed, make a 3D dinosaur land, and meet a few herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores along the way to dig up some fossils. Campers will make big discoveries in a camp designed for little scientists.

Find your colourful side with pencil crayons, oil pastels, paint, papier-mâché, and special objects. Campers will focus on the amazing power of colour as they discover their inner creative talent. Storytelling and acting will help campers visualize what they are drawing. This wonderful, colourful art will then become a backdrop to a ‘play’ from a story. Campers can have any level of artistic ability as long as they bring a smile and their creative energy with them. A colour extravaganza will be held on the last day of camps for parents and friends to enjoy the week’s fabulous results. All supplies are provided, but campers should bring a shirt or apron to prevent getting too covered in colour. Note: Due to popular demand, there will be two separate Creative Colourful You camps (Group A and Group B) running at the same time led by different instructors in separate classrooms. Camp content is the same in both camps.

everything reptile

Do you love reptiles? Our 'Everything Reptile' camp is the perfect way for campers to learn more about these amazing animals in a fun and educational setting. They will learn tons of interesting facts about many reptiles, like what they love to eat, how long they typically live, and how they adapt in order to survive in the wild. We will have lots of hands-on activities, including writing, drama, art (3D model of a favourite reptile), and even baking reptile-shaped cookies. 


GIRLS ONLY SPORTS, GAMES, AND FUN

This girls only camp focuses on confidence-building, physical activity, healthy lifestyle choices, teamwork, and of course, fun! Campers will participate in a wide variety of different sports, cooperative games, and group activities in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Activities will include yoga, meditation, dodge ball, soccer, Frisbee, basketball, California kick ball, capture the flag, mini Olympics, as well as other games and activities. In between the action, campers will learn about healthy lifestyle choices, teamwork, and self-confidence. Campers need running shoes, water, a healthy snack, and a sufficient lunch to fuel the day's activities. 


READERS THEATRE

This exciting camp is designed to help children improve their communication skills through the dramatization of familiar stories. Campers will be engaged in both body and mind as they work to memorize scripts and communicate ideas. Each class will include warm up exercises which incorporate language and movement. Following the warm up, students will hear a story to which they must respond dramatically. Responses will require students to write scripts, rehearse lines, and perform for an audience. Daily movement exercises will help students build self-confidence, while encouraging them to consider posture and proximity when performing. Cooperation will also be enhanced in this camp through team building activities.

SUPER SOCCER CAMP - HALF DAY (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

The super soccer camp is led by the keen and knowledgeable instructors from TSS Academy, one of BC’s most established private soccer organizations. What sets this camp apart is the commitment to engaging players in an entertaining soccer environment while customizing to the different levels of soccer interest. Players will refine their technique, build confidence, learn new skills and concepts, and have a great time in the process. NOTE: Players will need to bring soccer cleats and shin pads as well as water, snacks, and a change of clothing in case of inclement weather. This camp takes place outdoors and is rain or shine. 

Please indicate the appropriate soccer skill level when registering:

  • Beginner: players who are not currently playing for an organized community soccer club.
  • Intermediate: players who are currently playing for an organized community soccer club.
  • Advanced: players who are currently playing for an organized soccer club and are involved in a prospect, academy or high-level development program.

In this action-packed camp, we will soak up the summer rays while experiencing a new adventure each day in our beautiful city. Campers will visit Science World, hit the waves at the waterslides, explore Lynn Canyon (including the suspension bridges), and more! On Friday, we will end the week with a day of fun at Playland. The daily itinerary will be emailed before the first day. All admissions are included. This camp requires an Off-site Informed Consent Form to be completed. Registration for this camp includes an off-site t-shirt. No pre-purchase required.

WONDER-FABULOUS WRITERS' CAMP

Learn how to use your everyday life experiences to create amazing stories: tell tall-tales, become an epic hero, go on fantastic journeys, and face massive challenges. Campers will write journals, stories, and poetry that are full of suspense, humour, mystery, surprise, and triumph over evil. A large portion of the camp is active, as we will play games, go on observation walks, and complete guerilla writing challenges. Campers will discover fresh sources of inspiration from their own lives and learn how to create mood, develop characters, and make their writing come to life! This camp is suitable for all levels of writers. Campers will conclude their week with a portfolio of completed stories, as well as having lots of ideas for future stories that they can continue working on.

junior marine biologist

Become a junior marine biologist and study oceans, lakes, rivers, and the creatures that live within them. Discover what causes an oil spill and how it hurts seagulls, seals, and other cute water animals. We’ll turn our classroom into an underwater world, creating fresh and salt water themed art work, and create a larger-than-life 3D aquatic species. On the last day, campers will create and share their own new animals that could live in one of the underwater environments we’ve studied.

Do you have what it takes to outwit, outlast, and outplay? Find out at Survivor Southridge during this exhilarating week where campers will bond with fellow tribe members through learning basic survival skills while participating in various daily reward challenges like building a perfect campfire, a tent assembly race, and an outdoor scavenger hunt. Campers will assemble their own survival kits, design a tribal bandana, learn vital survival skills, and create friendships to last a lifetime. On Friday, campers will hike through Campbell Valley Park and use skills they have learned throughout the week. Come learn and play in the best classroom of all…the outdoors! hogwarts academy

Come travel to the Land of Enchantment featuring Harry Potter. We will take you on an enchanting journey into a land of wizards, magic, and fun! Experience a house-sorting ceremony followed by fun-filled days where you will learn magic spells using everyday items, and enter a magical dueling tournament. Campers will make a mandrake, create their own wands and capes, create enchanting pieces of art, learn how to play Quidditch, and whip up some mysterious concoctions in the kitchen. Use your imagination to experience a week visiting Hogwarts - where anything can happen!

Helping children build confidence in the kitchen not only encourages nutrition and healthy lifestyle, but also helps expose them to new flavours and foods. In this camp, children will make simple recipes, plan a meal, learn how to read recipes and labels, write a grocery list, and learn how to properly use kitchen tools. We will also discuss dining etiquette, table manners, the Canadian food guide, and much more! All food items used are peanut and nut free. We are unable to accommodate other allergy or dietary needs. NOTE: Although we will be making food throughout the week, campers are still required to bring a proper lunch and snacks each day.

ADVANCED HANDS-ON ROBOTICS: MINDSTORMS EV3

In the Robotics EV3 advanced camp, participants will take their knowledge of robot building and programming to the next level! We will meet a variety of daily challenges by designing and programming our robots and developing our skills using Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots and programming software. Campers will be introduced to a variety of advanced robot designs, programming, and opportunities to improve their skills. This advanced camp will allow participants to use their existing knowledge to explore more complicated robot behaviour and programming techniques. Previous experience with the Lego Mindstorms EV3 program and an understanding of how motors, gears, wheels, and axles work is essential to enjoy this camp. Those who previously attended the first level Hands-on Robotics camp are also invited to deepen their robotics knowledge and programming skills. This camp includes use of a Southridge Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit.

OUTDOOR PHYSICAL FUN

Join us for a week of outdoor physical fun exploring nature’s peaks, valleys, and waterways! Campers will get to connect with nature while improving their physical fitness through hiking, trail walking, and swimming. NOTE: Some of the physical activities are considered intermediate level – campers should have a good base level of fitness in order to participate in this camp. BASKETBALL, GAMES, AND LEADERSHIP

The goal of this camp is to have fun learning the fundamentals of basketball. Campers will be challenged and pushed to achieve their best as players and athletes. We will work on individual player skills, team strategies, and mental aspects of the exciting sport of basketball. Campers can expect skill competitions, 1 on 1, 3 on 3, and 5 on 5. Throughout the camp, we will take breaks to play other sports such as soccer, touch rugby, floor hockey, and dodge ball. Campers will also work on their leadership skills with their peers and younger campers by leading various games and sports day activities.
